Remember when that hashtag #ConfessYourUnpopularOpinion was circulating the Twitter universe? I tweeted everything from my love for pineapple on pizza to never seeing a single episode of Game of Thrones, and today I’ve got another one for you: Sunday is my favourite day of the week! I’m sure many of you just had a mini heart attack but it’s true, I love really do love it. It may be because I usually spend it doing not all that much or that I’m at home with my family, but on Sunday’s I like to focus on self-care and having a little pamper session. So I’ve put together this post full of ideas on how you can also show yourself some more TLC.

SWITCH OFF SOCIAL MEDIA

I always start my Sunday morning by checking up on social media to see what antics everyone got up to the night before but once I’ve caught up (I don’t like to spend more than 15-20 minutes on it) I switch my phone to vibrate and put it on charge in the corner of my bedroom. If you don’t think you can make it the whole day without scrolling, then try to leave it for a couple of hours and get stuck into an activity that will distract you for a while. More often than not you aren’t missing out on anything and if someone desperately needs to contact you they’ll text or call.

DIFFUSE SOME ESSENTIAL OILS

My new hobby! Essential oils recently made their way into my life and you can read all about how I got started with them here. One way I love to unwind and chill out is by putting on a relaxing blend of oils in my diffuser and recently I’ve been reaching for my doTERRA Citrus Bliss and mixing it with either Peace or Whisper for a citrus fresh musky scent. Essential oils are a great way to support emotions and are so versatile so if I’m feeling stressed or like I’ve got a lot on my mind I’ll apply some of  Lavender Touch to my pulse points.

HAVE A PAMPER SESSION

Once I’ve put away my phone and doused myself in oils, I go into full-blown pamper mode. First thing I do is cleanse my face with the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel and a muslin cloth before applying my current favourite face mask, the Sukin Super Greens Detoxifying Clay Masque. My skin has been ultra-sensitive lately and almost every product I’ve tried has reacted in a stingy-redness mess but this face mask from Sukin works wonders for clearing congestion without leaving me resembling a tomato. Occasionally I’ll put on a hair mask, although my hair is currently quite healthy, so when I do I opt for something like Joico K-Pak Intense Hydrator Treatment and if I’m out of that I’ll just lather my hair in coconut oil.

START A NEW BOOK

Starting new reading material is a great way to chill out on a Sunday arvo. Find a new book that sparks some joy within or that intrigues you – for me I love a catchy title or bold front covers. I actually purchased two new books yesterday from the shop, the first was Chyka Home by Chyka Keebaugh as I loved watchinng her on the Real Housewives Of Melbourne, and books that include a lot of visuals always make me want to pick them up more. The second, Can You Die Of A Broken Heart? by Dr Nikki Stamp, came as a recommendation from a friend which wouldn’t be one I would’ve picked up on my own but I can’t wait to get stuck into.

PUT ON A RELAXING PLAYLIST

There’s nothing I love more than bumming around at home when I’ve got some relaxing tunes playing in the background on my Spotify TV app. As someone who doesn’t like to be in silence I’ve always got music playing on some device around me and my go-to on Spotify is my Chill playlist which features artists like Angus & Julia Stone, Jack Johnson and Ziggy Alberts.
