Your one-stop-gift-shop for all things Valentine/Galentine’s Day
With Valentine’s Day rapidly approaching in just under two weeks, now is the time to start thinking about that special day to celebrate love. Although some people tend to find this holiday to be tacky and a little bit trivial, this year will be the first Valentine’s Day since Australia said YES to legalising gay marriage which makes it even more of a reason to celebrate big. This holiday isn’t always about being in a relationship with someone, for us single gals it’s a night to forget about the pressures of dating in modern society and to go out with our girlfriends, let loose over a bottle (or two or three) of wine and indulge in some gourmet food. The last few years I’ve spent it watching the latest Fifty Shades movie at the cinemas with friends and this year will be no different – what will I do next year when there isn’t a fourth movie?! It’s also a day to remind your nearest and dearest how special they are and how much they mean to you. Growing up my Mum used to buy my younger sister and I a heart-shaped chocolate wrapped in pink or red foil and in return we would do our best to put on a lovely homemade dinner for her and my Dad.
I know some partners can be stuck on what to gift for Valentine’s Day so I’ve put together a small gift guide that should cover all budgets and all bases; beauty, lifestyle, fashion and more. That being said there is nothing wrong with a thoughtfully written card, box of choccies and/or a bouquet of fresh flowers. So no matter how you’re spending V Day this year, cherish whatever time you do spend with your loved ones, and if you’re single like me and pulling a Bridget Jones “Alllll byyyy myyyyselfffff” in front of the TV, try not to beat yourself up about your relationship status… because it’s not the end of the world.
