The Winter Makeup Menu

Winter Makeup Menu

With winter finally coming to an end – we’ve had quite a few warm sunny days already – I thought instead of doing an August makeup menu I would share what makeup I’ve been wearing from throughout winter. I’ve been loving lighter bases, lots of bronzer and a pink lip, both nude and bright hues. I’ve been rather lazy with my eyes and usually opt for a simple all-over matte shadow with lashing of mascara. Here’s my winter makeup menu for 2017…

BASE

Like I mentioned above I’ve been loving wearing lighter bases and keeping my skin looking clean, fresh and healthy. To achieve this look I’ve been using a light layer of NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Mont Blanc and blending in with a damp Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge or Expert Face Brush. Unfortunately, I’ve had quite dark under-eye circles this last month or so and that’s been the reason I’ve lathered on my L’Oreal True Match Concealer in Vanilla under my eyes as well as around my nose for redness.

EYES

Keeping it super basic and quick to apply I’ve been using a few different matte shades on rotation and applying them all over the lid for an effortless look. My most-used shades are Jetsetter, Smarty Pants and Sweetheart from the Tartlette In Bloom Clay Palette by Tarte. To complete the look I curl my lashes with The Body Shop Eyelash Curler and add several coats of my new favourite mascara, Maybelline Lash Sensational Luscious Mascara. I’m obsessed with the new oil-based formulation designed to condition your lashes and of course the angled, taped brush end which really helps to coat every lash.

LIPS

I’m always gonna be a girl who loves nude lipstick with all her heart, but during the winter months I occasionally venture out of my comfort zone. I’m also a sucker for a good liquid lip that isn’t too drying and has great colour pay-off. The NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams are my go-to, my favourite shade being Stockholm, and I’ve recently been applying Antwerp for a brighter choice of colour – it’s a lovely deep shade of pink. But if I’m feeling particularly lazy then my fall-back has been a little Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream with The Body Shop Lip Definer in Pink Clover smooshed over the lips.
