February Favourites

My first monthly favourites post for 2018 is finally here! I can’t believe we’ve already waved goodbye to February and said hello to March. It’s going to be one busy month for me, starting with the Ed Sheeran concert my sister and I are attending this weekend, several catch-ups with friends and of course Easter at the end of the month! This year I think I’m only going to post my monthly favourites every other month seeing that I don’t test out a lot of new products or change the ones I do love all that often, but nevertheless let’s dive in to my beauty, life and style favourites for Feb.

I’ve been testing out a lot of new beauty products so far this year and even more so during February, mainly because one of my new years resolutions was to switch over to using more natural based, chemical free skincare products. My Mum picked up this Sukin Super Greens Cleansing Oil and although she wasn’t a fan herself, I really like it. The more I try from this brand the more I become obsessed with their products and brand philosophy: “skincare that doesn’t cost the earth”. This dissolves makeup like no other product I’ve tried before and doesn’t sting my eyes at all, unlike some of my other go-to’s – it’s even passed the drunk night out test of removing stubborn eye makeup. I don’t think I’ve mentioned the Zoella Beauty Shower Shake before on the blog but it has been one of my favourite shower product discoveries since it came out mid-last year. It’s perfect for shaving your legs with and is so moisturising you can afford to be lazy after showering and not bother to moisturise. I also love the fresh summery scent and how creamy it feels when soaping up. When I do actually make the effort to moisturise the Nivea Q10 Firming Body Lotion is an absolute winner – thanks Nanna. The light weight formula makes it easy to apply and sink quickly into the skin so it doesn’t leave you with that awful greasy feeling all day. I’ve been trying to establish a bit of a bedtime beauty routine lately – post coming soon – and hand cream had become an essential part of that. I’ve been lathering up my hands with The Body Shop Almond Hand & Nail Cream just before I go to sleep and found that in the morning I wake up with hands that feel super soft. I lost my beloved Burt’s Bees Cucumber Mint Lip Balm on holiday over the Christmas period and have been devastated ever since so I finally bit the bullet and repurchased it. Safe to say I won’t be going that long without one of the Burt’s Bees lip balms in my bag evr again. And since my lips haven’t been in the greatest condition I’ve swapped out my usual matte and liquid lipsticks for this gem I received free for being a club member. For someone who isn’t a lover of lip gloss the Mecca Tinted Lip De-Licious in Peach is a great alternative that has a subtle amount of colour to add that certain je ne sais quoi to a simple makeup look.

Life & Style

Since promising to get my sleep schedule back on track this year and as I mentioned before I’ve been trying really hard to set up a bit of a routine for myself and another part of that is having some quiet time alone in my room with a cup of tea and some candles lit. I recently picked up this lovely Target Grapefruit Cassis candle which smells bloody delicious. I’m not usually one for grapefruit scented things but this one isn’t so intense that it leaves you with a headache. I read that drinking chamomile tea before bed can really help you drift off to sleep and so I found a box of Twinnings Chamomile & Spiced Apple Tea among the many other boxes of tea at the bottom of my pantry. I really have grown to love the flavour of it and I don’t think I could live without it now. Style wise I have been obsessed with jumpsuits this summer and have bought several over the past few months. Straw bags have been the ‘it’ bag of the season and the perfect accessory for those jumpsuits I love so much. I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube lately and my current faves are Lily Pebbles, who’s debut book is out next week, Amelia Liana and Lauren Jane Hampshire – baby name videos have become a bit of a secret love of mine and Lauren does some of the best. Every year for Valentine’s Day my girlfriends and I always go and watch the new Fifty Shades movies at the cinemas and as this year was the last we made the extra effort to go and see it together! I really enjoyed the final instalment, Fifty Shades Freed, and thought they wrapped up the story quite nicely.
