Hello and Happy New Year friends! I hope you had a safe and joyful festive season with your loved ones – I certainly did. But I’m absolutely buzzing to entering this brand new decade and getting back into the swing of everyday routine again. I can’t wait to see what the next 10 years has in store for me, I’ve got a feeling they’ll be some of my best years yet! Let’s get stuck into some of the many things I want to accomplish in the new modern 20s.
Become a Fitness Instructor
Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would have a fitness-related career aspiration. I’m seriously laughing at myself, because not even three years ago I first walked through the doors of my local Xtend Barre studio. I was unmotivated with life and didn’t treat my body with respect and my incredible bunch of barre babes have helped me completely transform my life; mentally and physically. And since that first day, I’ve thought a lot about how much fun it would be to train as an instructor. I’ve recently upped my attendance to three barre workouts per week and have seen a huge change in my fitness levels, so with that in play, I’m hoping to become a qualified Xtend Barre instructor within the next year or two.
Write a Cookbook
This one has been a lifelong goal of mine and something that’s been my little side project over the last few months. I grew up surrounded by a family of foodies, my Mum even swears I came out of the womb with an olive obsession and gourmet palette, so being in the kitchen and cooking has always come natural to me. Now that I’m only a few months shy of finishing my health coaching course, I’ve gained a much deeper love and appreciation for food and nutrition and thought a cookbook would be the perfect way to share all the recipes I’ve acquired from my family over the years as well as the many recipes I’ve created myself. I’m hoping I can release this before the end of 2020.
Travel Around the World
As corny as the saying is, travel really is the only thing you buy that can make you richer! I often think about how fortunate I was as a kid to have traveled to some incredibly beautiful corners of the world and all the life lessons and history I learned along the way. There’s still so many more countries I want to explore and soak up and I would love to do that in the first half of this decade before I decide to settle down. As of right now, the counties and cities at the top of my travel bucket list are Malta, Mexico (especially Tulum), New York, Charleston, New Zealand, Morocco and New Caledonia.
Buy & Renovate a Home
My obsession with renovating and interior decorating began wayyy back when Extreme Makeover: Home Edition used to be on television and we’d all sit as a family to watch the team complete these insane reno jobs in under seven days. Since then, I discovered the Hampton’s interior style and fell completely in love with the aesthetic. I think it’s so cool how something as simple as a coat of paint, some new furniture, light fittings and decorative ornaments can completely transform the look and feel of a space, and now I’d love to give my hand at a project of my own. Some of my favourite reno and interior style guru’s are Erin, Lana and Bonnie from Three Birds Renovation, and local Perth designers, Lauren Dusting of Laurén Interiors and Natalee Bowen from Indah Island.
Create Some Offspring
Before I knew I wanted to be a health coach and go down the wellness career path, all I did know was that I wanted to be a Mum. By the end of the decade I’ll be 32 years old, which is kinda scary when you think about your optimal child-bearing years being in your twenties. I am so lucky to have had such an incredible childhood and close relationship with both my parents, so I think it’d be pretty cool to have a few of my own mini me’s running around and give them what my Mum and Dad gave my sister and I.
